HTML5 Web Development

HTML5 is a core technology markup language used for structuring and presenting content for the World Wide Web. As of October 2014 this is the final and 5th revision of the already exisitng HTML standard of the World Wide Web Consortium. The previous version, HTML 4, was standardised in 1997. The new version of HTML i.e. the HTML5 has many new syntactic features. These features are designed to make it easy to include and handle multimedia and graphical content on the web without having to resort to proprietary plugins and APIs.

HTML5 Development at Promatics

  • It is one of our core competencies to develop web apps / sites using HTML5
  • With HTML5 all our websites and apps have greater consistency in terms of the HTML used to code a web page on one site compared to another
  • It is easier for our designers and developers to know how a web page is structured
  • It is easier for our developers to build and debug websites and applications in HTML5
  • Improved accessibility - Different technologies can elaborate on the features with the help of HTML5, just by looking at the elements of the web page and its structure
  • Our websites and apps built using HTML5 take advantage of the Geolocation feature to find out where you are in the world and sharing that information with people
  • The all new HTML5 Geolocation APIs make location, whether generated via GPS or other methods, directly available to any HTML5-compatible browser-based application.

About HTML5

These new features include the new 'video', 'audio' and 'canvas' elements, and the integration of scalable vector graphics (SVG) content (replacing generic 'object' tags), and MathML for mathematical formulas.

Its core aims have been to improve the language with support for the latest multimedia while keeping it easily readable by humans and consistently understood by computers and devices (web browsers, parsers, etc.). HTML5 is intended to include not only HTML 4, but also XHTML 1 and DOM Level 2 HTML The Main focus of HTML5 is to make easier applications with simple front-ends, drag and drop tools, discussion boards, wikis and other useful elements. It has newer elements such as 'section', 'article', 'header' and 'nav' that have enriched the semantic value of the document

How HTML5 enhances power of HTML?

HTML5 has successfully solved almost all the limitations that its previous versions had. Thus HTML 5 has enhanced the power of HTML.

HTML5 provides native support for audio and video elements. With you will no longer need to download a plug-in to watch a YouTube video or listen to a song. HTML5 offers rich media support. Rich content is also accessible on any device, such as smartphones, tablets etc.

HTML5 embedded video and audio files are less taxing on mobile devices’ batteries, which becomes more important as we see more users embrace and rely on the mobile Web. HTML5 plays a fundamental role in helping you provide a consistent user experience across all media channels. Some of the key features of HTML5, those that are very helpful over earlier versions:

  • The canvas element is part of HTML5 and allows for dynamic, scriptable rendering of two dimensional shapes and bitmap images. It is a low level, procedural model that updates a bitmap and does not have a built-in scene graph. Uses of canvas include building graphs, animations, games, and image composition.
  • HTML5 has built-in ability for playing videos and audios and there is no need for any external plugins.
  • Vibrant and perfect drag-drop option makes the development process easy, efficient and quick for the developers
  • The presence of Canvas option enables the sketching of complex animations and graphics
